AJG Waters now offer a wider range of valves to suit your process sampling requirements. For the sampling of viscous slurries (at temperatures up to 230C) Strahman piston type sampling valves with PTFE packing are well suited. For higher temperature duties Waters offer Strahman Piston Type sampling valves with a graphite packing arrangement or Strahman MG Valves with metal to metal primary process seal and a graphite packed live loaded gland arrangement.

For sampling of non-viscous products Waters propose either Strahman ‘Quik’ sampling valves or Strahman MG Cross Pipe sampling valves.

These valves are supplied in standard manual operation with a spring to close for quick action and operator safety. The Strahman MG Cross Pipe sampler is available with a bellows seal arrangement for the sampling of toxic products.

These valves can also be supplied with sample bottles, sample bottle holders and are padlockable for added security.

For sampling pellets and powders samplers are available with manual or pneumatic actuation and an arrangement suitable for pneumatic conveying systems.

Safe containment of hydrocarbon samples

Parker Instrumentation has launched a range of stainless steel sampling cylinders, conforming to the Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive (TPED)
The cylinders allow the extraction of a sample from a process location, and provide safe containment for storage and transportation to the laboratory for analysis. Typical applications include hydrocarbon sampling in refineries, gas sampling in chromatography, and condensate sampling in fossil fuel and nuclear power plants. Sampling cylinders are also commonly used as pressure surge accumulators or reaction vessels.

The new TPED Series Cylinders are ‘hot spun’ from 316 stainless steel tubing, providing a seamless finish for maximum integrity and corrosion resistance.

This weld-free process provides a smooth internal flow path through the neck, minimising the pockets that can trap sample material - for easy cleaning after use.

Four sizes are available: 150, 300, 500 and 1000cc; all are rated for use to 124bar (1800PSI).

Precision, controlled-tolerance female NPT threads are machined at each end of the cylinders for connections with valves and fittings.

The stainless steel material used is heat code traceable.

This traceability follows each cylinder through manufacture, heat treating, cleaning and pressure testing.

Parker offers a comprehensive range of accessories for use with the cylinders including valves and carrying handles.

Manual sampling valve with spring return

AJG Waters introduces the Strahman ‘Quik’ sampling valve which combines a manual 1/4 turn operation with spring return for fast, precise sampling and operator safety
AJG Waters introduces the Strahman ‘Quik’ Sampling Valve which combines a manual 1/4 turn operation with spring return for fast, precise sampling and operator safety. When mounted to piping (or a vessel) any internal scale or crust is broken through by operation of the valve and with an extended body design samples can be taken away from the vessel or pipe wall thus ensuring a live sample is obtained. This 3/4 inch valve is rated to Class 600 lb per ANSI B16.34 and the soft seat design with live loaded packing provides bubble tight shut-off rated to ANSI Class VI seat leakage.

The valve can be padlocked to prevent unauthorised operation and a has an ISO mounting plate on which electric or pneumatic actuators can easily be fitted.

The valve is suited to a wide variety of sampling duties and can also be used for injection service (reverse flow) for process chemicals and cleaning agents.

The valve can be supplied with screwed or flanged connections and with a sample containment arrangement.

For further details please contact AJG Waters (Equipment)

Sampling valve available with Ingold connections

AJG Waters announces that the Strahman ‘Quik’ Sampling Valve is now also available with Ingold connections. The Strahman ‘Quik’ Sampling Valve combines a manual 1/4 turn operation with spring return for fast, precise sampling: for operator safety it is now also available with screwed, flanged or Ingold connections. The operation of the valve poppet will break through internal scale or crust thus ensuring a live sample.

The valve can also have an extended body so a representative sample, away from the vessel or pipe wall, can be obtained.

The valve has an ISO mounting plate and therefore can easily be padlocked to prevent unauthorised operation or fitted with electric or pneumatic actuators. The valve is also available with a sample containment arrangement.

Sterileware sampling scoops!

Sterileware sampling scoops are individually packaged and sterilised, ready for immediate sterile use in critical sampling applications. Three volume sizes are available to match sampling requirements. The smaller 60ml (2 oz) and 125ml (4 oz) scoops have a longer handle that increases the distance between the user’s hand and sample.

They also have flattened bottoms that holds the scoop upright when filled or empty allowing them to be used as a weighing boat.

All scoops are moulded of white, high impact polystyrene for strength when pushing through dense powders and easy visibility of material in the scoop.

A certificate of sterilisation ensures lot traceability of each case quantity and is available on request.

To request FREE SAMPLES or additional information, including local dealers who carry the Sterileware sampling scoops, please contact Bel-Art.

Customer feedback concerning temperature control and sample systems highlighted the need for better cleaning and draining systems, so Asepco developed the Hydrodynamic Sampler
Customer feedback concerning temperature control and sample systems highlighted the need for better cleaning and draining systems. Based upon this feedback, Asepco have designed their New Hydrodynamic Sampler. The Hydrodynamic Sampler is designed to provide added security in all high-purity processes.

The special ‘v’ shape of the valve chamber is designed for ease and efficiency of draining.

Exceptional cleanability is achieved through precise calculation of the angles at which the fittings enter the valve body.

This also allows closer jacketing to the tank, because the fittings are angled away at a quicker rate.

The sampling process is quick, easy and reliable, and, most importantly, truly representative of your process fluid.

Samples can be taken at any time during the process, each time using the behind-the-seat flowpath design of Asepco valves to assure the complete aseptic control of your sample.

All Asepco valve bodies are lathe-machined out of solid stainless steel bar stock, because this process creates a cleaner, more reliable surface than buffing or polishing, which can also contribute to corrosion.

They are then electropolished and passivated, which contributes to oxidation resistance.

Aspeco are dedicated to creating and manufacturing the highest quality products possible.

To enable their products to be as close to customer requirements as possible, Asepco circulates prototypes of their designs amongst trusted customers.

Their comments go back into the design process, allowing for better usability and a better representation of market requirements.

Asepco valves and mixers don’t add complications.

Instead, they are proven to simplify maintenance and reduce downtime.

The Process Line Isolatable Quantum Sampler

In2process Pty is pleased to announce the release of its latest product ‘The Process Line Isolatable Quantum Sampler’. This latest Quantum Sampler is set to revolutionise the way in which sampling is done. The Isolatable Quantum Sampler uses the same proven technology which has been in use on the Standard Quantum Sampler over the past 6 years, whilst incorporating the use of a knife gate valve to seal the sampler from the process line when the sampler needs servicing.

The sampler is operated by standard plant compressed air and controlled by either your plants DCS/PLC or In2process can supply a simple time based controller to suit your application.

The sampler comes standard in all 316 S/S (except the alloy air cylinder barrel) and EPDM process seals with other specialised types of seals available.

The sampler will give a repeatable, predetermined sample size of either 10 - 25 or 50cc per stroke.

The sampler is manually inserted into and through the knife gate valve by simply turning a hand wheel and is then bolted securely onto the gate valve.

The sampler is designed for use on mining slurries, so can operate in any type of liquid.

Robotic sample processors

Robotic sample processors with homogenisation, degassing and thermostating capabilities are available from Metrohm
In order to extend the range of applications of Metrohm Robotic Sample Processors, we have developed a thermostated sample rack, which has a temperature range from -10C to +50C. The temperature bath is a separate, closed circulation system that does not come into contact with the thermostated samples and therefore cannot influence them in any way. The heating and cooling spirals ensure efficient and uniform temperature control of the water bath, so each sample is perfectly thermostated.

Water bath racks are available in a variety of sizes: for beakers with a capacity of 75 ml, 120 ml, 150 ml, or even 250 ml.

The system requires a heating or cooling circulator.

Stable construction and sophisticated design makes the Metrohm Sample Processor a robust laboratory instrument for universal use.

The lift of the workstation moves the lightweight electrode just as easily as a 3 kg lab instrument.

For the homogenisation of a sample solution (eg, an emulsion), a high-frequency homogeniser can be attached without any problems.

Loads of up to 12 kg can be placed on the lift safely and exactly, time and time again.

Degassing carbonated beverages, alcohols, and other samples must often be purged of interfering gases, such as CO2.

Now you can automate that process on the Robotic Sample Processors.

A kit allows you to add a needle or degassing stone to the titration head.

A small valve will open before the titration begins to bubble an inert gas through the sample for as long as necessary.

Once the degassing procedure is complete, the valve closes and titration begins.

AutoSam: 24 hour reaction sampling from HiTec Zang

AutoSam is a fully automated liquid sample handling system with simple operation: the sampling and bottling programmes can be time controlled or event controlled
AutoSam is a fully automated liquid sample handling system with simple operation. The sampling and bottling programmes can be time controlled (forced time points) or event controlled (e.g on exceeding of limit values). Sample residues and flushing solutions are caught in a separate waste vessel.

Inert materials and free programmable flushing cycles assure handling without carryover and sterility of biological samples.

The AutoSam is adaptable as a sample dispenser or multi component receiver.

The needle can be at any point in the sampling vessel.

Precise control allows targeted separation of liquids by suction to the phase interface level.

Sampling flasks with closed or slitted septa can be utilised.

Even closed sampling vessels (e.g 1.5 and 2ml-E-caps) with a thin membrane can be used.

The sample tray can be exchanged for different bottle volumes eg 10 ml to 2000 ml sample bottles.

The AutoSam is controlled via a serial interface e.g using the HiTec Zang LAB-manager.

The control is performed by a hitext-programme - or by hibatch-unit-operations.

Thus AutoSam can be easily integrated into HiTec Zang LabKit and MultiLab systems.

There are many applications.

* Bottling of samples.

* Delivery of educts or reactants.

* Quenching, mixing and diluting.

* Derivation with several reagents.

* Liquid/liquid extraction.
